Being Coachable: What ONE Action Can You Take Today to Start a New Habit?

For Sales Leaders Everywhere

This is the final post in our series on being coachable. Over the past few weeks, we’ve explored what lies at the very center of it all—who you are, what your goal means to you, and what you’re willing to do to achieve it. Good work!

This closing reflection is for both coaches and students. At its heart, coaching is about keeping the process simple and attainable.

Start Simple

At the beginning of the coaching journey, ask: Are the actions simple enough to do? Are they steps that help coach and coachee get to know one another, begin to build trust, and create a foundation for partnership?

One Daily Action
  • Is there one action you can take every single day, in every opportunity?
  • Is there one thing that can be repeated, observed, and measured—something that fosters the experience of learning, builds the coaching habit, and can be celebrated when it works?
What Have You Learned About Yourself?

This is a powerful place to stand. Ask yourself:

  • What am I learning about how I learn?
  • Where am I willing and where am I willful?
  • What expectations do I place on myself—and on others—when it comes to achieving goals?
  • When I don’t achieve my goal, do I take responsibility—or place it elsewhere?

So much to learn!

If you’re still here, still reflecting, congratulations. It takes courage to look at yourself honestly, explore blind spots, and receive coaching from someone committed to your success. Please reach out—I’d love to hear about your experiences, your achievements, and what’s next for you.

Now, go ask yourself—is this working?
