BEing Grateful: Are You Grateful Now?

This is the second post on gratitude. The first was about gratitude as a practice—something we do intentionally and regularly. This one is about gratitude as a presence—something we feel and embody in the moment.

Gratitude in the Present Moment

I am grateful now… in this moment as I write this.
Grateful for the ability to write.
Grateful for thoughts that inspire me.
Grateful for a keyboard that lets those thoughts flow.

I am grateful for all that comes into my life—what makes it easier, more joyful, and even more challenging. Because gratitude isn’t reserved just for the sweet gifts; it also belongs to the tough lessons.

Gratitude for the Tough Stuff

I’m grateful for moments that stretch me.
For the times I didn’t handle an interaction well—and someone cared enough to tell me.
For losing an opportunity because I waited too long to act.
For the lessons that were completely my doing and invisible to me at the time.

Those are the moments that teach me the most. They ask me to pause and look deeper.
Was I not present enough to see what was really happening?
Was I so focused on my own point that I missed someone else’s perspective?

I’m grateful when I see these automatic reactions—because only then can I choose something different. Something more connecting. Something more effective.

Your Gratitude Practice Today

Take a moment right now and ask yourself:

  • What am I grateful for in this exact moment?
  • Can I be grateful for the tough lessons, not just the easy wins?
  • What is this moment—pleasant or not—trying to teach me?

The more we can be grateful for all of it, the more we grow from all of it.

Now, go practice being grateful… right now.
